The Elementary School program at The Udine International School offers a harmonious blend of national educational standards and international academic rigor. Core subjects receive dedicated instructional hours and undergo rigorous formal assessment to ensure mastery:

• Language Arts & Reading: Building fluency, grammar, and eloquent expression in written and spoken English. Our multi-disciplinary reading program uses classic and contemporary texts to develop critical skills—such as inference, analysis, and prediction – tailored to each student’s reading level through a balanced literacy approach (guided reading, shared reading, and read-alouds).
• Mathematics: Utilizing the world-renowned Singapore Math method, we guide students seamlessly from concrete experiences to pictorial representations and abstract problem-solving, applying mathematical logic to real-world scenarios.
• Italian Language & Culture: Grounded strictly in the official MIUR curriculum, this program ensures fluency in Italian language, literature, geography, and regional civics (starting in Grade 3). It prepares students for active citizenship while honoring local heritage.

Weekly specialized instruction ensures a well-rounded foundation, assessed on practical skill development:

• Art & Music: From mastering line, tone, and sculpture alongside art history, to developing music notation skills, rhythm, and auditory analysis in upper grades.
• Computer Studies: Equipping students with core digital literacy, including Microsoft Office applications, image editing, age-appropriate coding, and interactive platforms using our dedicated computer lab and class sets of iPads.
• Physical Education: Focused on fundamental movement, athletic coordination, teamwork, and healthy habits, utilizing premier sports facilities.
• Handwriting: Explicitly teaching fluent, legible cursive to support cognitive development, fine motor control, and academic representation.

We believe that strong partnerships between home and school are essential for student success. Progress is continuously monitored and formally communicated throughout the academic year:

• Quarterly Report Cards: Issued four times per year at the conclusion of each term.
• Interim Reports: Provided at the midpoint of Term 1 for all families to track early progress. During Terms 2 and 3, targeted interim updates are shared with families if a student requires additional academic or behavioral support.
• Parent-Teacher Conferences: Scheduled regularly throughout the year to maintain open dialogue and review individual growth.
